Bondi Discloses Probe into President's Adversaries and Jeffrey Epstein Connections
This past Friday, the Attorney General appointed Jay Clayton to oversee an inquiry into political adversaries of the President and their links with Jeffrey Epstein. This move came shortly after Trump directed her to begin the probe.
During an announcement, the Attorney General commended Jay Clayton as “among the nation’s top prosecutors”. She stated, “This case will be addressed with speed and honesty to ensure public transparency.”
This action contrasts with a recent memorandum from federal authorities which declared that documents related to Epstein did not warrant further inquiries. As per the document, authorities “lacked sufficient evidence to pursue cases against other parties.”
Trump Demands Scrutiny of Political Opponents in Epstein Case
The announcement coincides with growing pressure from the president on congressional Republicans to oppose the public disclosure of Epstein-related documents before an key congressional decision in the coming days. Many Republicans are expected to support the disclosure.
Recently released emails from Jeffrey Epstein have brought attention to the president’s previous connections with the sex trafficker, revealing details that he knew more about Epstein’s conduct than he has previously let on.
That same day, the President announced he would ask the Department of Justice to investigate connections between Epstein and Democratic figures, specifically naming Bill Clinton, Larry Summers and Reid Hoffman. Interestingly, he also described the “Epstein situation” as a “scam”.
